Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering Tool

At a glance

Business Need

CIBC’s Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (EAML) team wanted to improve operational efficiency and satisfaction of AML investigators by creating a new tool to consolidate various systems.

Goals

Role

I led the design — planning, working with stakeholders, running workshops and research sessions, and creating various design deliverables including interactive prototype.

Proposed Impact

Improve the adoption of the new tool by applying a human-centred design approach to its development.

Produce the "Art of the possible" prototype to get stakeholder buy-in, including upper management and investigators themselves.

The project would save 33 full-time equivalent costs — about $1.3 million dollars.

Immediate Results

Improved usability based on qualitative feedback
Design thinking knowledge shared across organization
$600,000 in consulting cost saved
This project would not have been possible without the support from business leads Nic Conolly and Naomi Sirota, UX researcher Justin Lau, and other SME's.
